Department of Health and Exercise Science

  1. Demonstrate proficiency in understanding theories, concepts, and principles related to exercise science.
  2. Students will be able to apply scientific processes to address a problem or question in exercise science.
  3. Students will be able to effectively communicate exercise science theories, concepts, and principles.
  4. Students will be able to design, prescribe, and evaluate exercise for diverse populations at various developmental stages and under a range of conditions.
  5. Students will act in a professional and ethical manner as set forth by the ACSM.
  6. Students will be able to conduct and accurately interpret health and fitness assessments.

  1. Develop a strategic plan for health/wellness/exercise promotion that supports the unique missions and values of a corp/facility.
  2. Examine and address the org/黑社区 health and/or exercise issues and resources at all levels of the socioecological model (intrapersonal, interpersonal, institutional, 黑社区, and public policy).
  3. Acknowledge and understand the social, cultural, and economic factors that influence health behaviors.
  4. Use accepted quantitative or qualitative methods for assessment and program evaluation in health and /or exercise.
  5. Students will act in a professional and ethical manner during internship and other field experiences.

  1. Communicate public health information, in both oral and written forms and through a variety of media, to diverse audiences.
  2. Locate, use, evaluate and synthesize public health information.
  3. Assess population needs, assets and capacities that affect communities’ health.
  4. Discuss the means by which structural bias, social inequities and racism undermine health and create challenges to achieving health equity at organizational, 黑社区 and societal levels.
  5. Discuss multiple dimensions of the policymaking process, including the roles of ethics and evidence.
  6. Interpret results of data analysis for public health research, policy or practice.
